Sky News' Jacquie Beltrao shares major health update amidst cancer treatement (2025)

Jacquie Beltrao had an incredible recovery from stage four cancer after testing out a miracle drug in 2020 and has taken to social media to update her followers

Sky News presenter Jacquie Beltrao has shared a fresh health update related to her ongoing experience with stage four cancer - twelve years after she was first diagnosed. The former Olympic gymnast took to social media to reveal she was back in the chemo suite for a Zometa bone injection. This is a treatment she regularly receives to help protect her bones from further damage.

Jacquie told followers: "It's Zometa bone injection day. As usual the nurses in the chemo suite were lovely and I had a snooze in the chair. I've got a ‘to-do’ list as long as my arm – I've done none of it."

When one of her followers asked what the treatment was for, Jacquie responded: "It hardens my bones which were like aero by taking calcium out of the blood – stops cancer spreading in the bones I think is the plan."

Fans flocked to share messages of support with the broadcaster. One fan told her, "You take all the time you need. You are awesome," while another added: "Good luck with your fight and with the list."

Earlier this year, Jacquie observed World Cancer Day by sharing a photo of herself in hospital and looking back to a moment when she thought she might not survive.

She wrote: "Me in chemo for a 2nd time in 2020. Diagnosed with incurable stage four breast cancer – at the time I thought I was going to die. It was very scary. I'm now in remission which is great but not guaranteed forever.

"So on #worldcancerday I say #dowhatmakesyouhappy. Because you never know if life will throw you the cancer curveball. Big love to anyone going through treatment or a diagnosis right now."

One follower opened up about their own experience, responding: "My breast cancer returned in my spine after 10 years, in 2023 – stable atm and cherishing every day." Another said: "You radiate such positivity."

In 2021, Jacquie revealed that doctors feared she had just months left to live after the disease spread to her spine and legs. But a breakthrough drug called olaparib, which was previously only used to treat ovarian cancer, changed her life.

Thanks to the treatment, Jacquie went into remission and even got to meet the researchers who made it possible. The Sky News presenter has spoken to the Sun about the emotional moment she met one of the scientists, saying: "Seeing Andrew, I was immediately compelled to just give him a massive hug — the bloke saved my life.

"Without him and his team making it possible for someone with breast cancer like me to take this drug, who knows where I would be now. I certainly wouldn’t be two years cancer free. Andrew is like a superhero to me. It really is a miracle what happened to me. And going to see them made me realise where the miracle happened."

Jacquie was first diagnosed with breast cancer in 2013 and has been open with fans about her slow road to recovery and what it felt like to face such a deadly disease.
